We Say Goodbye

She was with us for 11 days and now she’s back in the wild.

The young female white shark that was placed in the Outer Bay exhibit on August 27 was released in the waters off Santa Barbara on Sunday afternoon, September 7. She fed once while at the aquarium and though she swam well our staff decided it was best to return her to the ocean.

The shark was fitted with a tracking tag so researchers can monitor her movements, and learn more about young white sharks in the wild.

		Another New Baby: Otter Pup on Exhibit There's a new baby otter on exhibit—an African spotted-necked otter pup who's just taken up residence in the Wild About Otters special exhibition. Pup Ziwa, mother Neema and father Denny are frolicking together. Ziwa was born behind the scenes on June 7.
